A Canandaigua man was charged Friday by Canandaigua city police with second-degree criminal contempt, obstruction of governmental administration and disorderly conduct.

Police said they responded shortly before 3 p.m. to 209 S. Main St. to investigate a possible violation of an order of protection, and observed Even C. Barnum, 21, of 4913 Ganyard Hill Road, allegedly in the presence of the protected party in the order.

As police attempted to interview Barnum, he allegedly fled on foot, crossing Main Street and almost being struck by a vehicle, police said. He was taken into custody after several minutes and subsequently charged.

Barnum was arraigned and sent to the Ontario County Jail on $10,000 cash bail.
