The case of a Rochester man accused of killing a 17-year-old high school student and dumping her body in a backyard pool will head to the jury Friday.

Devonte Lively is charged with second-degree murder. He's accused of killing Larie Butler in his grandmother's basement and then throwing her body in a neighbor's swimming pool.

Closing arguments wrapped up late Thursday afternoon. During the trial, the assistant district attorney focused heavily on text messages that investigators say were sent from Lively to a friend of his. Investigators say one of those messages asked the friend if he knew of any way to clean blood out of carpet.

Jury deliberations are expected to get underway Friday morning. If convicted, the 20-year-old could face life in prison.
