It's Mother's Day weekend and on Saturday women from across the area were building a house for one single mother.
Habitat for Humanity and volunteers from Women Build helped break ground on the new home that will be located on Kondolf Street. This is the ninth house that the Women Build program has worked on.
To get the project started, members helped raise over $75,000 to help cover costs.
Organizers say the program is all about helping another women.
“We're building this house for a single mom. As a mother myself, my daughter was the one that got me involved in Habitat to begin with. We realize this is special for this mother and we always do something special on Mother's Day weekend,” said Women Build Chair Karen Kall Coffey.
Once the house is complete the new owner, Kreasha Johnson, will pay a 30-year, zero interest mortgage to help cover the costs.
