A local volunteer firefighter and paramedic is organizing a boot drive to raise money for the West Fire Department and West EMS in West, Texas.

Last month, the community of West, Texas suffered a devastating explosion at a fertilizer plant. Fourteen people were killed including 11 firefighters and EMT's from five departments who rushed in to help.

West Webster firefighter and paramedic Syed Ahmed Mustafa had the opportunity to visit West, Texas three days after the explosion and witnessed the destruction first hand.
To remember those lost and to raise money for the departments and families affected, Mustafa has organized a boot drive. Area fire and EMS departments in Monroe County and neighboring counties will be taking part.  The boot drive will be from 7:00a.m. To 6:00p.m. On May 17.
