Fire protection in Churchville is about to receive a boost.

According to Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand, the Churchville Volunteer Fire Department will receive more than $125,000 from the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.

The program helps firefighters and first responders buy gear, hold training sessions and do other things that allow them to protect you and your family's safety.

News10NBC is told the fire department will use the money to replace air packs and breathing apparatus that are over 15 years old.
