A 35-year-old woman was arrested after deputies say she left behind three animals at her apartment after she was evicted.

The Ontario County Sheriff's Office says that Laura Ingalls, of Palmyra, has been charged with cruelty to animals, animal abandonment and failing to provide food and water to a confined animal.

Deputies say that Ingalls left a rabbit in a cage and two cats behind after she moved out. Her former landlord later discovered the animals on an enclosed porch of that apartment and notified the Humane Society when Ingalls did not return for her animals.

When officials from the Humane Society arrived, they found that the rabbit had not been fed or watered in at least three days and the cats had escaped the porch by clawing through a screen window.

Ingalls will appear in Manchester Town Court at a later date to answer charges.
