Residents of one apartment building on the city's north side are without a home Sunday night after a fire broke out.

Firefighters were called to the scene on North Clinton Avenue around 5:45 p.m.

News10NBC is told there were initial reports of people trapped inside, but rescue crews searched the building several times and didn't find anyone.

Investigators say the fire started on the second floor, but it's still unclear how it started. They also say the inside of the building will have to be gutted because of the smoke damage.

The Red Cross is providing food and housing for six adults and five children.
