Canandaigua Police say a Clifton Springs woman led them on a chase following a traffic stop early Sunday morning in Canandaigua.
According to police, Karianne Mitchell, 31, was stopped by police on Bristol Street. Police say she left the scene as the officer was approaching the vehicle and led police on a chase that ended on Route 64 after she struck a sign post and drove through a ditch. Police say Mitchell refused to exit the vehicle and refused arrest. Police say a tazer had to be used to take her into custody.
Police say Mitchell was taken to Thompson Hospital after complaining of pain in her left leg. She was treated and released.
Mitchell is charged with DWI, aggravated operation of a motor vehicle, unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, resisting arrest, reckless driving, speeding and other violations. Police say she is also wanted by the Newark Police Department on an active warrant. Mitchell remains in the Ontario County Jail.
