There are new developments in an I-Team 10 investigation that had a lot of parents in a local school district concerned. They were worried about their children because of a man who was fired as a bus driver in the district.

Police say he parked across the street from the school and would just sit there. Now he's facing charges after a confrontation with a group of students.

Thomas Patterson will not be parking in front of the Dansville schools campus any longer. A judge has restricted him from the area after an incident last week involving three students.

I-Team 10 first reported on this situation in March and how tom Patterson refused to go away.

He would park his truck on vacant property across the street from the Dansville central schools nearly every morning and afternoon. The superintendent said Patterson’s daily presence was making people nervous.

He's a former bus driver, fired from the district after police say he left a child alone on a school bus last spring for which he's facing child endangerment charges. Police tried to talk to him, but he wasn't breaking any laws, so they couldn't make him leave.

Last week, police say he got into a verbal confrontation with three students who were leaving the school on their way to baseball practice. They say Patterson followed the students to the park and as the superintendent described it, there was a "tense and threatening encounter." As a result, Patterson was charged with disorderly conduct, harassment and reckless driving. The court also signed an order of protection that bars Patterson from being within 500 yards of the Dansville campus.

I-Team 10 spoke with Superintendent Paul Alioto to get his thoughts on these latest developments. He said, “We want our students, our parents and our staff members to feel safe. Mr. Patterson's presence across the street appeared to be stalking and surveillance which made people uncomfortable. And we simply want that discomfort to go away."

I-Team 10 did get a hold of Patterson by phone Wednesday afternoon. On the advice of his attorney, he says he cannot comment on these latest charges. He did say that he is not out for revenge, he is simply trying to look out for his children.
