It was the final night of the Scripps Spelling Bee. The night we find out who is the best speller in the USA.

Two spellers from western New York made it to the national competition. Unfortunately Abirami from Seneca Falls was eliminated in the third round. But tonight, we got to see Sriram from Corning in the final round, however he was also eliminated.

New Yorker Arvind Mahankali took home this year's championship.

The 86th national bee had a twist. For the first time ever, a vocabulary test factored into scores. The winner takes home $30,000 and prizes, as well as the coveted trophy.
