The Greater Rochester Chapter of the American Red Cross will be testing to see how prepared the Rochester area for a possible natural disaster.

Dozens of area volunteers will be on hand to respond to the scenario on Saturday day. Officials will be looking to assess how well the agency as well as residents are prepared to deal with a severe storm.

Officials say you never know what the worst case scenario might be, but you have to be prepared for everything.

“We could be dealing with damage from high winds, flooding, power outages, or any combination of those,” said Sarah Perkins, who is in charge of Saturday’s drill. “By periodically drilling for these events, our volunteer teams are prepared ahead of the storm and are well-equipped to deal with any situation.”

The drill will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the American Red Cross chapter on Prince Street.
