A 23-year-old Rochester man has been indicted by a Monroe County Grand Jury for the attempted murder of a pregnant teen.

Samuel Smith was indicted on second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault and criminal use of a firearm.

On May 20, police say Smith shot 17-year-old Paris Bullock on Danforth Street. She was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment.

First Assistant District Attorney Kelly Wolford said, “Anyone who would produce a handgun and shoot another person in the street in broad daylight is clearly a threat to the community, but to perpetrate such a crime against an unarmed, pregnant woman is particularly callous. Samuel Smith’s alleged actions are those of a person with no regard for the lives of others, and I look forward to prosecuting him and helping to make our streets safer.”

Smith is in the Monroe County Jail in lieu of bail.
