Remember Watson -- the supercomputer that crushed the competition on Jeopardy!? Now Watson will be using his smarts to help doctors improve treatment for cancer patients.

On Friday, the University of Rochester announced a new partnership with IBM’s supercomputer. It will help provide doctors with all the latest information on cancer research and help doctors analyze a patient's existing medical records.

Dan Pelino of IBM said, “We're exploring the idea of how we can literally take the wonderful knowledge that's here at the university with the medical school and be able to apply Watson to shorten the amount of time between wonderful discoveries and treatments to have a very positive impact for patients."

Organizers believe Watson will also help provide treatment options for each patient.
