RPD officer released from the hospital, shooting suspect's condition upgraded

The Rochester Police Department tells News10NBC that the officer who was shot on Thursday has been released from the hospital.

Sergeant Flamur Zenelovic was released Sunday after he was shot in both of his arms while trying to take a murder suspect into custody. Also injured in that shootout was the suspect and an innocent bystander who was driving by at the time in his vehicle.

That bystander, 47-year-old Gene McDougal, is still listed in guarded condition at Strong Memorial Hospital.

The suspect in this shooting, 28-year-old Ralph Strong, condition has been upgraded from guarded to satisfactory condition on Sunday. Strong was shot five times during the shootout with police on Thursday afternoon in the area of Norton and Goodman Streets.
