A woman was missing Saturday after flash flooding tore through upstate New York communities.
Police Chief Robert Thomas of Fort Plain in Montgomery County said Ethel Healey was unaccounted for after her mobile home was washed away by rising waters Friday.
Thomas said no one else in the village was unaccounted for as of Saturday.
Heavy rains Thursday and Friday caused the Mohawk River and other waterways to overflow. At Little Falls, the river reached more than 3 feet above flood stage late Friday morning before receding, the National Weather Service said.
Many of the rivers and streams that spilled their banks receded by Friday night.
Governor Andrew Cuomo toured areas damaged by flooding yesterday and said a disaster declaration would remain in effect for 15 counties.
