Deputies: Rochester man hospitalized after fireworks mishap

A Rochester man is in satisfactory condition after a fireworks mishap in the town of Murray on Thursday evening.

Orleans County Sheriff's Deputies say 19-year-old Brent Mead was holding a mortar in his hands while lighting fireworks when a round failed to launch. News10NBC is told that the round exploded in the mortar. Mead suffered injuries to his hands and chest and was flown by Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital.

Deputies confiscated the remaining fireworks. News10NBC is told that Mead may face charges.
