When you are 108 years old, sometimes things don't move the way they once did. And that's exactly what's happened with the historic Denzel Menagerie Carousel at Ontario Beach Park.

The popular carousel came to a sudden stop on Sunday June 30. Monroe County Parks Director Larry Staub says people were onboard at the time, but no one was hurt.

Staub says a main gear broke. He says the gears are made of cast iron and you can't just go to a local shop and have it fixed. They have to send it to a foundry and have a new gear cast. That could take a month or more. In the meantime, local carousel experts are going to see if a temporary fix will keep the carousel moving until then.
