It was just over a week ago that a local man died while competing in this year's Musselman Triathlon.

Monday night friends, family and fellow athletes came together to remember Michael Coyle.

Coyle died July 13 during the cycling portion of the competition.

Police say he was riding his bike when he hit a vehicle on the side of the road that had run out of gas. He later died from his injuries.

News10NBC spoke with people at Monday night's memorial race.

“I haven't figured out words to say what it means. You know it's touching. I almost can't think about it too much because I get too caught up in it. But it's unbelievable,” said Chuck Coyle.

The event was also held in honor of an Ohio woman, Lan Lin Zhang, who was injured in the triathlon.
