Border Patrol arrests Mexican citizen with 37 criminal convictions

A man from Mexico was arrested in Rochester after U.S. Border Patrol discovered he was living in the United States illegally and had 37 criminal convictions in the country.

U.S. Border Patrol agents in Rochester responded to a call for assistance from the Rochester Police Department last Saturday.

During an interview officials say the man gave three different names to a police officer before they figured out he was illegally living in the United States.

According to U.S. Border Patrol, record checks revealed the man has 37 criminal convictions in the United States.  The convictions range from misdemeanors to felonies and include charges such as, narcotics violations, assault on a federal officer, burglary and robbery.

The man was processed for an administrative removal and will be taken back to Mexico.
