Five people got out safely after a house fire Thursday morning. It broke out around 9:30a.m. in a home on Avenue D off North Clinton Avenue.

Firefighters say the fire started on the second floor of the home. Everyone got out safely on their own, including some young children who lived there.

Firefighters say there were working smoke detectors and a carbon monoxide detector inside. They are still looking into what caused the fire.
