A Rochester man was hit and killed Sunday night after getting out of his car on I-390 in Henrietta.

Monroe County Sheriff's Deputies tell News10NBC the man was driving southbound on I-390 near the Lehigh Station Road overpass around 6:30 p.m. Sunday night when he stopped in the right-hand lane of traffic and got out of his car to adjust his luggage rack.

Sheriff's Deputies say one car managed to swerve to avoid the man at the last minute, but a second car hit him.

The man's name is not yet being released.

I-390 southbound is still closed just beyond the exit to Lehigh Station Road. No word on when the road will reopen.
