Mosquitoes infected with West Nile have been found in western New York. According to our affiliate in Buffalo, two pools of mosquitoes that tested positive for the disease have been found Erie County.

No word on those pools' locations but the Erie County Health Commissioner has suggestions to protect you and your family.

She says adults should use insect repellent with 30 to 50-percent DEET and kids with 10 to 30-percent DEET.

People should wear long sleeved shirts and pants outside, especially at night when mosquitoes are out. Homeowners should dump any standing water, clean their gutters, and make sure to keep pools clean.
