A former Schuyler County Town Justice was sentenced last week for practicing law without a license.
Diane M. Secord will spend 60 days in jail. She was indicted by a Yates County Grand Jury in May and pleaded guilty in June for practicing or appearing as an attorney-at-law without admitting or registering. She appeared in Yates County Family Court on January 22, representing someone other than herself. Though she was a former Hector Town Justice, Secord is not an attorney.
Secord's jail sentence is being served at the Yates County Sheriff's Weekend Alternative Program and will run through early October.
