Intense flames ripped through and destroyed an historic building in the Honeoye community.
The fire started inside a Main Street building once owned by Stone Construction Company.
Firefighters are still investigating but we do know the current owners -- a company based out of Minneapolis -- were preparing the building for demolition because it was not safe.
Richmond-Honeoye Fire Department Chief Bernie McGory said, “We had flames from the ground line all the way up through the roof on the 3 and half story structure on initial and it's been caving in the building is unsalvageable.”
Firefighters say the company that now owns the building will pay for the demolition. Investigators with Ontario County Emergency Management are still trying to find a cause.
