It was a day two local soldiers have been waiting for, the opportunity to come home and see their families. For one of them, it meant meeting a new member of the family.
Army pilot David Rodgers, met his new baby girl for the first time, as he arrived home to the Greater Rochester International Airport Thursday.
He's coming home from a tour in Afghanistan, as is Army Sergeant Joseph Morice.
We spoke with both men as they arrived home.
“It was a great moment actually. One that took 9 months to get to. So it was worth it,” said Rodgers.
Sgt. Morice said, “It is indescribable. Seeing everyone. All the support from your family and friends. The feeling's overwhelming.”
Both men said they were looking forward to spending some time home, and relaxing.
