Fifty years ago today, Martin Luther King Junior delivered his “I Have a Dream” speech in Washington.
Did you know the civil rights leader was here in our area just a couple of months before that delivering a speech to the graduating class at Keuka College?
Rebecca Leclair sat down with a member of the class of 1963 to talk about the significance of his visit to Penn Yan that year.
Ben Douglas, former Rochester City Councilmember, was 17 years old, living in Washington, when he and a friend decided to take part in the march. He ended up on the national mall, close enough to see Dr. King as he delivered his speech.
