RPD awarded more than $190,000 in federal grants

Rochester Police Department has been awarded more than $190,000 in grants.

The Department of Justice has awarded to $191,357 to the City of Rochester under the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program.

The city of Rochester will use the grant to purchase law enforcement equipment like a rifle package to enhance patrol responses to critical incidents and to increase the safety of officers. In addition, the grant will help support the Family and Victims Services Unit and Operation NightWatch programs.
