A 52-year-old Rochester attorney has pleaded guilty to four felony charges of filing a false personal income tax return.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Frank Sherman tells News10NBC attorney Salvatore Marcera Junior understated the gross receipts of his law practice on tax returns from 2004 through 2007 totaling $356,353. Had Marcera reported the correct amount, Sherman says he would have owed $104,074 in additional taxes.
Each charge carries a maximum penalty of three years in prison, a fine of $250,000 or both. Marcera will be sentenced on January 7, 2014.
