One person is dead, and another is in the hospital, after they were shot in the middle of the morning and police are now asking for your help to find the man they say is responsible.
Police say Marcus Freeman is wanted in connection with a double shooting, that left 27-year-old Walesy Alvarez dead, on Pullman Avenue. They say he should be considered armed and dangerous and if you see him, you should not approach him and should call 911 immediately.
News10NBC has learned through the district attorney's office grand jury rising report that Freeman was indicted on rape charges in June.
The shooting happened around 10:30a.m. Wednesday on Pullman Avenue, not far from Marshall High School and School No. 41.
Police say Alvarez and a 32-year-old man were both shot. Both were shot in the upper body and taken to Strong Hospital with life-threatening injuries. As a result of those injuries, Alvarez was pronounced dead around 6 p.m.
While our crews was at the scene, they heard complaints from a number of residents concerned about the amount of time it took emergency crews to get to the scene.
Chief James Sheppard, Rochester Police Chief, said, "Obviously, if we could have gotten here before it happened that would have been the perfect scenario. What I understand is from the time the call came in, it came in at 10:28, it was dispatched at 10:30, we were here at 10:34. That's a four minute response time, I think that's what we average for these types of calls. We would have loved to have been here sooner but I can understand the concern that's being expressed."
Police say this appears to have been a domestic incident and they believe Freeman knew the victims. Again, if you see Marcus Freeman, you're asked to call 911.
