Wegmans has rolled out a new product the chain hopes will be a hit with parents. It has begun selling new, fresh cut snack packs at all area stores. The goal is to offer a healthier option for kids to snack on during school.
Each pack is made in house and full of veggies, fruits and protein. The packs were first sold at the Pittsford store, then rolled out to the others, just in time for back to school.
Wegmans Nutritionist Brian Lilly, RD said, “Some of them can get into 400 to 500 calories range that might be appropriate for lunch but for the most part these are around 200 to 300 calorie range that will be more appropriate for a snack type situation.”
The snacks cost $4 or less. While some parents may find it less expensive to make their own, others want the option to pick up a snack pack for convenience.
Wegmans decided to sell the packs after hearing from its Twitter followers.
