Members of the Rochester community came together Sunday afternoon to give their neighbors a helping hand.
It was the annual Friends and Family Day hosted by Baber AME Church.
Local organizations turned out to meet and greet members of the community and provide information about their services.
Church leaders say they want to strengthen the community by building relationships between residents and service providers, like the Rochester Police Department.
“We want to build that opportunity between community and the police department. Often times there is a strain between the two. We want to build community policing. We want to build opportunities where people get to know officers,” said Pastor James Simmons.
Also on hand Sunday were local healthcare providers, the Rochester Fire Department and the NAACP.
