The New York City Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has identified the remains found in William Spengler's home on Lake Road after the Christmas Eve ambush last year.

They say it is the remains of William Spengler's sister Cheryl Spengler, 68. The office says Spengler died from a gunshot wound to the head and her death has been ruled a homicide.

Authorities say William Spengler set the home on fire and then fired on the first responders who came to the scene, killing two West Webster firefighters.
