The newly constructed on-ramp from East River Road to I-390 southbound in Brighton is scheduled to open Wednesday.
With the opening of the new ramp, left turns from West Henrietta Road southbound to I-390 southbound will be prohibited. Instead, southbound traffic will be directed to make a right turn on East River Road to use the new entrance ramp.
The new auxiliary lane on I-590 northbound at the I-390 southbound diverge opened this past weekend. It gives motorists, entering the expressway from East Henrietta Road, an additional 2,000 feet to merge onto I-590.
Prohibiting left turns on Mt. Hope Avenue/West Henrietta Road will reduce congestion and delays at the intersection with the interchange ramps. Drivers traveling from the East River Road/Kendrick Road area will no longer have to cross West Henrietta Road and East Henrietta Road along the I-390 service roads to access the expressway.
