The woman shown in a YouTube video being hit in the head and forced to the ground by a Rochester Police officer was arraigned Tuesday morning in New York State Supreme Court.

Brenda Hardaway, 21, of Rochester pleaded not guilty to several charges including assault, attempted obstructing governmental administration by means of a self-defense spray device, obstructing governmental administration, unlawfully possessing or selling noxious material, menacing and resisting arrest. Hardaway is accused of threatening police with a can of pepper spray.

In a video posted on YouTube, a Rochester Police officer is seen striking Hardaway in the head and then forcing her to the ground on August 27.  Police say they were called to the home for a domestic dispute and when they tried to arrest her 16-year-old brother, officers claim Hardaway threatened them with pepper spray.

Also Tuesday, Judge Francis Affronti increased Hardaway's bail to $25,000. She remains in the Monroe County Jail.
