They've spent years serving our nation, but when they come back to the U.S., many veterans find themselves without a job.
On Wednesday, The Veterans Outreach Center teamed up with over a hundred local companies to help those veterans get back to work. Organizers say with major budget cuts looming, many of these veterans could see their unemployment benefits reduced.
One job seeker thinks veterans are a good fit for local companies.
Capt. Jeremy Dzuroff, U.S. Army Reserves, said, "The army likes to promote a leadership type of individual and I think that's what a lot of companies are looking for, a person who's a self starter, and someone that can just take charge with little oversight."
Col. Gary Yapel, CEO, Veterans Outreach Center, said, "Our veterans have served our nation and it's time that we give back. We provide them with fantastic opportunities to get back into the job labor force and get back to their communities."
