A Genesee County man is in jail Tuesday morning after state police say he and another man tried to shoplift from Home Depot.
Thirty-year-old Robert Peachey and 52-year-old Roy Hooten – both from Oakfield – went into the Home Depot in Batavia on Saturday. Troopers say Hooten distracted an employee while Robert Peachey left the store with copper piping. The two men left the parking lot, but then troopers say Peachey went back to the store to find his wallet that he left in the store. Police were there waiting for him.
Peachey is charged with grand larceny and in the Genesee County Jail
Hooten is also facing charges and was released with an appearance ticket.
