It's a small gesture that's sure to bring huge smiles to children battling cancer. The Golisano Children's Hospital held its first annual sew-in celebration. People came out to make pillowcases for the young patients undergoing treatment at the hospital.
Organizers say it's the perfect way to show children their support.
Debra Bartz, organizer, said, “It brings a little home to the hospital setting for these kids battling cancer and other life threatening illnesses. It helps to find something positive and something to smile about. It not only brightens their room, it brightens their spirits.”
So far through the program, volunteers have donated more than 3,000 pillowcases.
