The second show coming to the Rochester Auditorium Theater as part of the Rochester Broadway Theater League's 2013-2014 season is “War Horse”.
Producer Albert Nocciolino says “War Horse” is one of the most incredible theatrical productions of all time.
Nocciolino said, “It is a spectacle within itself. It's a play with music, but it's a story of a young boy and his horse and their separation during World War I. It is adapted originally from the book and then brought to the stage. Steven Spielberg brought to the the screen.”
But on stage, Nocciolino says something incredible happens that we've never seen before!
Nocciolino said, “To portray the horse, they've made them into puppets. String puppets from South Africa created these life sized puppets that are horses. They take three people to manipulate these horses on stage and Joe, who is the horse that belongs to Albert, gets taken away in World War I as many horses did. They are reunited later, later they find each other.”
Nocciolino says you'll fall in love with this story and the horse and quickly forget that you're watching a puppet.
Nocciolino said, “It's beautiful. It's just a spectacle and a great story. I think one of the most beautiful productions I've ever seen, so we're really looking forward to having it here in Rochester. I think people will walk away with a ton of emotion and good feeling and a significant part of history that many of us don't know about from World War I and how many men and horses were killed as a result of World War I. But also this story is a love story.”
“War Horse” will be in Rochester from November 5-10.
