Turning illegal guns into jewelry and helping a good cause at the same time. That's what the city of Syracuse is doing as part of its partnership with one New York company. Syracuse is one of three cities working with Liberty United to make unique jewelry pieces.
The finished product is a thing of beauty from world renowned designers, but some of the metal in each ring, necklace or bracelet comes from illegal guns and bullet casings collected by Syracuse Police. On top of it all, 25 percent of the proceeds from the company's sales go to local non-profits working to prevent or deal with consequences of gun violence.
The jewelry pieces sell for between $85 and $1,400. If you want to learn more, click here.
