Athletic trainers can help with mental illness

Experts at Syracuse University say athletic trainers, especially ones at the college level, can be a valuable resource when it comes to tracking children's mental health.

One in three college-aged people suffer from some type of mental illness.

Trainers see athletes at some of their best and worst moments and they often build a strong trust with one another. Trainers can also be aware of potential mental issues caused by a physical injury.
