The final two shows coming to the Rochester Auditorium Theater as part of the Rochester Broadway Theater League's 2013-2014 season are “Once” and “The Phantom of the Opera”.
Albert Nocciolino, RBTL producer, said, “I remember seeing it and I said I don't remember the last time my heart, my head and my sole crossed over the stage simultaneously. I fell in love with the show. I saw it in a little theater off Broadway and then it came to Broadway and won Best Musical.”
It's a love story that was originally a movie about a young man trying to follow his dreams of becoming a musician, but is giving up and then he meets a woman who changes everything for him.
Nocciolino said, “The song from the show, “Falling Slowly”. I think is one everyone knows, which won the Academy Award for Best Song in a Movie.”
There's something very unique about this performance. Every single actor is playing a musical instrument simultaneously while they're acting.
Nocciolino said, "So everybody is playing a musical instrument and what's kind of interesting and fun about this show is that it takes place in a Dublin bar and before and during intermission people are invited to come right up on stage."
After “Once” clears the stage, the very familiar “Phantom of the Opera” is here.
Nocciolino said, "Celebrating 25 years, the longest running show in the history of Broadway. It's a spectacle. It's a show that I think everybody wants to see. This will be the third time that we are bringing it here. This is a brand new production touring the United States and we are so fortunate that we are one of the first cities on the tour. Some 21 trailers will pull up out back and load in this magnificent show which is exactly what's on Broadway and fall in love with phantom again."
“Once” will be at the Auditorium Theater on March 18-23. “Phantom of the Opera” finishes the 2013-2014 RBTL Broadway Season on April 16-27.
