It's an issue community leaders say impacts everyone. In honor of "Domestic Violence Awareness Month", a number of agencies came together to talk about the issue and to celebrate the progress.

Experts say one in every four women will be impacted by domestic violence. They claim there were at least 58,000 calls last year alone.

Alli O'Malley, Domestic Violence Consortium Chair, said, "Domestic violence has many faces and forms. These statistics represent human beings men, women and transgender couples in relationships and elders being abused by care givers."

Community leaders say the good news is that now there are a number of groups and volunteers reaching out to victims.
