He's hoping to be our city's next mayor and Green Party candidate Alex White has unveiled his plan for education in Rochester.

White said he's not in favor of mayoral control, but thinks the issues of the city school district's students can be addressed by re-directing city dollars. One of the examples he gave was cutting tax breaks for millionaire developers and funneling that money into schools.

Alex White, Candidate for Mayor, said, "The problem is we know what we need to do, but unlike Pittsford or Penfield or Fairport or Brighton or Spencerport or any district in this area who start by saying 'what do we need for our children', we start by saying 'what can we afford?'"

White will face current City Council President Lovely Warren at the polls in November. Mayor Tom Richards has decided not to pursue re-election.
