Without the help of dozens of volunteers, many of the programs of the City of Rochester's Department of Recreation and Youth Services would not be possible.
That's why Tuesday night, the Deputy Mayor and the Commissioner of the DRYS, held an event to show their appreciation for all that those volunteers do.
The reception was held at the Rochester Museum and Science Center. Tutors, coaches, mentors, and even gardeners were recognized for their efforts throughout the year.
Commissioner Luis Burgos said, “the value that they add to the department frankly is immeasurable. You know they bring passion, they bring hours and hours of work. They bring all this talent and creativity and we as a city simply could not get this work done if it wasn't for them."
Each volunteer received a certificate in recognition for their public service.
