September was Hunger Action Month and while the month may be over, there are still plenty of people in need of food.
Foodlink teamed up with Affinity Orchard Place Apartments to offer a food giveaway to people in the Rochester area. The giveaway was open to anyone in need in our area. Volunteers lined up to distribute fresh fruits, vegetables and other foods to people.
Marc Goldfischer, Affinity Orchard Place Apartments said, "People are in need right now. The economy has not fully recovered and maybe not nearly so from the recession of 2007-2008. There's still a lot of people who need food, there's still a lot of people who, by getting free food, will have some extra money freed up for something else in their life, like gifts for kids coming up in the holiday season."
About 225 people were served Wednesday as part of that food giveaway. For more information about Foodlink, click here.
