It's a chance for farmers to promote one of New York's biggest markets. The Wayne County Apple Tasting Tour. The tour is going on all month long through Wayne County. It gives apple enthusiasts the chance to sample products from 16 different farms and farm markets, trying anything from old fashioned apple pie to apple vodka and wine.
Herman Young, Young Sommer Winery, said, "It's all about education. People know Wayne County. People know we grow apples, they drive by and see apples growing on the trees, some of them don't realize how many varieties. We grow 20 varieties on our farm alone. What we do at our winery is we actually produce wine and cider from using apples. So our customers that come in for the tasting tour get the chance to taste our wine, get the chance to taste our apples, of course, that we would have available and maybe even our cider if they'd like."
Apple Country Spirits, a spin-off from DeFisher Farms, distils apples grown on their farm to make vodka.
