The Rochester Institute of Technology has established a global presence for itself with campuses across the world, like Kosovo and Dubai. And now, the university is working to further that presence by expanding its academic and international collaboration with a university in Sweden!
Faculty members from Malmo University will be spending the next three days in Rochester. They'll be able to exchange ideas with faculty and students from RIT.
Something officials say is a win-win for both schools.
Ann Howard, Senior Associate Dean, College of Liberal Arts at RIT, said, "The focus has always been, what's the mutual benefit, and we think theres a mutual benefit for ourselves as institutions, ourselves as members of a community at large that benefits from the university being inside the community, but also first and foremost, how does it strengthen the educational mission we have to serve our students."
The partnership between RIT and Malmo University has been in the works since 2009. Officials are hoping it will also lead to a sister-city relationship between the cities of Rochester and Malmo.
