A group of fourth graders is helping families throughout our community.
Students at Allen Creek Elementary School started the project last school year when they were in third grade. They planted squash seeds as part of a service learning project at the Powers Farm Market. The students harvested the squash on Wednesday and donated the crop to Foodlink. However, it was not as much as they planted. Heavy rains earlier this year damaged some of the seeds.
Foodlink is a program that helps distribute food to families in need.
