Local religious leaders are reaching out to military men and women.
Colgate Rochester Crozier Divinity School held a "Pathways to Healing and Recovery Conference" for veterans on Wednesday.
Experts say there are more troops returning home from war who are in need of a number of services. They say many of the veterans suffer from moral injuries.
"To take the life of an innocent civilian is not military or U.S. doctrine, but it happens in war," said Chaplain Herman Keizer Jr. "So a soldier who may have witnessed that, he has to struggle with that on a moral basis."
The program included a series of discussions, art, film, and lectures.
