It's happened to a lot of people when they travel, get an unexpected text or call from back home and get socked with hefty fees.
T-Mobile is changing that for its customers. It is eliminating fees for using data and texting services in more than 100 countries. It is also capping charges for international voice calls.
The new non-fees go into effect October 31. That's when customers of T-Mobile's flagship Simple Choice plan won't have to worry about getting hit with "roaming" fees if they fail to sign up for an international plan before they travel abroad. Those fees can reach hundreds or thousands of dollars for a trip, even to neighboring Canada or Mexico.
